How to Choose the Right Wedding Planner: A Complete Guide

Your wedding planner will be with you for months and in the room for every important moment. Choosing well matters more than almost any other booking.

1. Look at real work

Ask for photos and videos from recent weddings — not stock images. Check that their style matches yours, whether that is royal and grand or minimal and pastel.

2. Understand the scope

Full planning, partial planning and on-day coordination are very different services. Confirm exactly which functions, vendors and hours are included.

3. Ask about vendors

Do they have preferred vendors? Can you bring your own? Are vendor payments made directly or through the planner?

4. Get an itemised quote

A transparent planner will break costs down by function and category. Avoid single-line “package” quotes with no detail.

5. Meet the on-day team

The person who sells you the package is not always the person who runs your wedding. Ask who will be on ground and how many team members will be present.

Questions to ask

  • How do you handle changes after booking?
  • Can we speak to a recent couple?
